ADDITIONAL COMMITMENTS

1 An Armoured unit was also based in Berlin, in later years this was provided by a detached Squadron from either the RAC Training Regiments at Bovingdon or Catterick or the All Arms Training Centre Regiment Warminster.

2 The UNFICYP Squadron RAC (based in Nicosia) was provided, inter alia, from time to time by BAOR based units.

3 BAOR based Armoured Regiments provided surge reinforcements to Northern Ireland OP BANNER commitments often in the dismounted (Infantry) role.

4 BAOR based Armoured Regiments provided complete units or subunits from time to time to NATO Forces in the Balkans from 1990 onwards.

5 BAOR Based Armoured Units took an active role in the 1992 Kuwait War and the invasion of Iraq in 2003 (Second Gulf War), subsequently garrisoning parts of the Southern Iraq .

6 Similarly BAOR based Armoured Regiments have ongoing Operational commitments in Afghanistan.
