Part II

It has come to light that both of these Barracks were known by the same name after being handed back to the German authorities – Bergische Kaserne. It may also be possible that they were known by the same name (Flak Kaserne) prior to occupation by allied forces at the end of hostilities in 1945.

Thanks are due to Ernst J. von der Schmitt for the above information. Ernst has kindly supplied photographs of the area as it is now and these will be posted shortly on the Gort Barracks and/or Llanelly Barracks pages.

If the locations are traced on Google Earth they are very close together, about 3km west of Hubbelrath itself, Gort Barracks being to the north of Llanelly Barracks.
