Brooke Barracks
Originally named von Seekt Kaserne after the German military officer noted for his organisation of the German Army (Reichswehr) during the Weimar Republic. It had originally been built in 1935-6 for the Reichswehr behind the older Schmidt-Knobelsdorf-Kaserne Wavell Barracks), with which it connected. From 1939-45 the von Seekt Kaserne accomodated the 218 Infantry Replacement Regiment. (Infanterie-Ersatz-Regiment 218.) In 1945 the barracks were bordered by Schmidtknobelsdorff Straße, Seeburger Straße and Wilhelmstraße.
Being home to various infantry battalions, Brooke Barracks was located on Wilhelmstraße, Spandau district.
The barracks took its name from Field Marshal Alan Francis Brooke, 1st Viscount Alanbrooke, KG, GCB, OM, GCVO, DSO.
