RAF Lubeck played and important role during the 1947/8 Berlin airlift at the western end of the northern of the three air coridors into Berlin. Now a civil air field used by budget airlines. In 2006 the departure area featured a large montage of black and white photos featuring the airfield during this era with many RAF transport planes prominent.
