Celle Various
 
Just under four weeks from the end of the war, on 12th April 1945, Celle fell to elements of 46 Brigade and 227 (Highland) Brigade. Units and Regiments involved in the operation included the following :-
 
4th (Tank) Bn Coldstream Guards
1st Bn Middlesex Regiment (originally 2nd/8th Middlesex, they were reconstituted as the 1st Bn after the loss of the original 1st Bn in the Far East)
131st (City of Glasgow) Field Regt. R.A. (supporting fire to 227 Brigade)
3rd (Tank) Bn Scots Guards
10th Highland Light Infantry
The Royal Scots (Royal Regiment)
 
There were obviously many more and these will be added as, and when, they are identified.
 

May 45 Celle then became the home for the HQ of 43rd (Wessex) Infantry Division moving from Bremen command 30th Corps from Jun 45 30th Corps District (HQ Neinburg later Lüneburg) the barracks are as yet unknown the Division was disbanded Aug 46

 

May 45 43rd Reconnaissance Regiment RAC from Bremen the barracks are as yet unknown disbanded Feb 46

 

Help is required with more units that served in Celle in those early days of BAOR

 

Mar 49 7th Armoured Division Signal Regiment was reformed at Celle from Hannover District Signal Squadron the barracks are as yet unknown moved to Caithness Barracks Verden early 50
